Chocolates are known to be irresistible. They are by far the only type of food that can be associated with pleasure foods and have health benefits too. This may sound like a superior excuse to binge, but as the saying goes, everything in moderation is good for health. Chocoholics may not necessarily be known only for wrong reasons, because health professionals and food connoisseurs have agreed with the fact that chocolates are not only about calories but also about salubrious anti-oxidants.

Chocolate, the wonder food, discovered by the Red Indians many centuries ago, contains a very helpful anti-oxidant called Flavanol. Cocoa plants are found to exhibit the presence of flavanols which are believed to be good for regulating blood pressure, because they help the smooth muscle cells of the blood vessels to relax and expand. Owing to the health benefits related to chocolate, it has become a part of healthy diets. Researchers have observed that a little bar of dark chocolate can keep the heart healthy and the cardio-vascular system in a good shape. It can remarkably reduce bad cholesterol by as much as ten percent. It’s amazing how chocolate can actually add to your health, rather than the common myth of only adding unnecessary calories.

They are known to help in improving cardio-vascular activities. In a recent study conducted by Spanish researchers it is found that eating dark chocolate helps in subduing abdominal blood pressure which otherwise causes devastating effects in cirrhotic patients. That’s not all. There are more benefits to the cardio-list. Regular consumption of chocolate is also believed to reduce the chances of a heart-stroke. The interesting healthy facts of chocolates undoubtedly make them a part of the healthy food brigade.

Confectioneries have great use of chocolate in their cook book, because chocolates are not just pleasurable, but smooth, creamy, and yummy too. All of these make them an essential part of a confectioner’s ‘essentials’ list. It is used in making cakes, pastries, softies, doughnuts, dishes and a variety of other food items. The good news certainly is that chocolates are known to possess trails of health benefit.

Needless to say, chocolates are always an old-time favorite for every person irrespective of age or sex. Pleasurable indulgence in chocolate assures enhanced mood, soothes the mind and quest the desire for this incredible healthy diet food. Scientifically, it causes the brain to release the feel-good chemicals – the Endorphins that promote good mood and a calm state of mind. Milk-Cocoa drinks as part of the breakfast for kids is a common example of how chocolate is venerated by people from all generations, young or old.

Given that it comes with so many benefits, including chocolates in your family’s healthy diet plan is a good start to a great healthy living. So, find a friend in chocolates when you are hungry, lonely and tensed.
